5 Off The Beaten Track Adventures & Destinations

A historical masterpiece illustrated through the evolution of ancient civilizations has produced one of Egypt’s most remarkable destinations. Currently home to some 4 million Egyptians, El Menya is in many ways Egypt’s geographical and historical nucleus, stretching out along the river Nile 230 km outside of Cairo.   This city was actually the capital of Egypt around 700 years ago when Ikhnaton and the beautiful queen Nefertiti inhabited the village of Tel El Amarana in the center of worship known as the Markez of Malawi.  This site can be visited alongside nearly a dozen other burial sites and museums, which still house the original sculptures, monuments and paintings that have survived to this day. Having been a locale of significance during the era of the Pharaohs, the Romans and all the way to the time of the Abbasids, El Menya offers its visitors an orgy of discovery.  Ancient architecture, an authentic Greek agora, early Christian basilicas, remains of a temple built by Ramses II, the Church of the Virgin Mary, awe-inspiring monasteries, and even a palace built in the 1930’s. And as the gift that keeps on giving, a fresh batch of tombs has been unearthed in El Menya dating back over 2,000 years which archeologists believe to have belonged to a very large city; a potential key to unlock the mysteries of Ancient Egyptian life. Thankfully, a multitude of world class hotels and resorts have long since debuted throughout Menya thus sugar coating your hikes, treks and tours with blissful relaxation, allowing you to take full advantage of this tsunami of adventure and exhilaration.
